Recently Giant online auction eBay was convicted by a French court of selling counterfeit goods and ordered to pay 20,000 euros (30,000 dollars) in damages to French luxury group Hermes, and it brought out the issue of IPR (Intellectual Property Rights) especially among E-commerce businesses. Thus, we??d like to remind you about IPR and our policy. ?? EC21 respects intellectual property rights of others and we also expect our members to respect others; particularly, their brand names and products. As most of you well know, Intellectual property (IP) is a legal field that refers to creations of the mind such as musical, literary, and artistic works; inventions; and symbols, names, images, and designs used in commerce, including copyrights, trademarks, patents, and related rights. Under intellectual property law, the holder of one of these abstract "properties" has certain exclusive rights to the creative work, commercial symbol, or invention by which it is covered. In order to make EC21 more credible website, since last March, we have decided to take following action. Commencing March 2nd, use of existing registered brands without legal permission will be strictly prohibited on EC21 site. For example, Product Catalogues and Trade leads who are using names of well known registered brands such as Nike, Jordan, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and Chanel will be denied by our filtering system. Denied products and trade leads will neither be displayed on members??websites nor in EC21??s search result pages. In short, if you post anything that infringes on any other intellectual property rights of others, you will face some disadvantages. Hence, we request all our members to carefully read and understand our policy once again and if required, please do the necessary changes/modifications in your products and trade leads information. Thank you in advance for your cooperation in making EC21 a better trading platform. |
